A Guide to our Wedding Ring Profiles

When it comes to choosing a wedding ring, there is actually a lot more to think about than most people realise. Once you have an idea of your style, metal and size, something else to consider is which wedding ring shape will be most comfortable for you; you will be wearing it for the rest of your life after all.

The shape of a ring is more commonly referred to as profile and is best distinguished when looking at the cross section of a ring. You can probably imagine what a D-shape profile looks like, however some are less obvious.

The court profile is one of the most traditional profiles for a wedding ring and therefore a popular choice. The profile is slightly curved on the inside and outside making it very comfortable to wear.

Double Comfort
The double comfort is our own profile that was deigned by our in house jewellers with ultimate comfort in mind. It is rounded on the inside, slightly flattened on the outside, and has rounded edges. The ring is both comfortable and contemporary and over the years has become one of our best sellers.

D Shape
A D shape is exactly what it sounds like. Shaped like a D, the profile is flat on the inside with a distinctive, domed outside. It is also a very traditional choice and is popular with both men and women.

As we’re sure you can imagine, the flat profile is flat on all surfaces. A flat profile is more of a contemporary choice for a wedding ring. When chosen in a chunky depth and a large width, a flat profile can look really modern.

Flat Court
When worn on the finger, a flat court appears a lot like a flat. However, the inside has a curved surface making it a lot more comfortable to wear. The flat court is a great choice if you are after a chunky, contemporary look but are not used to wearing rings and need something a bit more comfortable.

Flat-Sided Court
Similarly to the traditional court, the flat-sided court is curved on both the inside and outside but has flat sides making it appear less domed. The flat sides mean that this profile is a little more weighty than a court and can make the ring appear more substantial on the finger. The flat-sided court is a popular choice as it often sits really well next to engagement rings.

There are so many different choices and specifications to chose between and it can get a little overwhelming. For this very reason we offer a sample service, where by you can order plain silver replicas in the profiles, widths and depths that you are interested in to try on before placing your real order. You can find more information about our sample service here. 🙂
