Choosing a first dance song can be a very different experience from couple to couple. Some people have that ‘oh this is our song’ and some don’t.
Me and my husband belong to the category that has ‘too many songs’. We are both massive music lovers and when we discussed which one to choose we couldn’t agree. So we decided on having two songs – one for walking down the aisle and one actual first dance song, and we also picked two new songs that we both love.
The plan was to walk down the ‘aisle’ on Brighton Bandstand to Freddie Scott’s ‘You Got What I Need’. But as it happened the weather didn’t allow the ceremony to take place outside. Our friends then formed a little tunnel for me to walk through on way in to the cafe underneath the bandstand and the song was played. I had no idea this was happening so it was a nice surprise!
Here is the current ‘Top 50 First Dance’ list according to Spotify for inspiration. Ed Sheeran seems to be a popular choice with three songs in the list. And one song has got two entries with two different artists, can you find it? 🙂
For our ‘first dance’ we chose ‘So In Love With You’ by Leroy Hutson. We went to see him play at Union Chapel in the months leading up to the wedding which was amazing and made this song even more special. ♥
The first dance, as everything at your wedding, is about you and your partner being yourselves and having the time of your life so don’t get stuck on rules to follow. Choose something that represents you both and your love for each other.
