Halloween isn’t just about trick or treating. In many Christian countries the holiday is celebrated around the same time as All Saints’ Day, also known as All Hallows’ Day or Hallowmas.
All Saints’ Day in Mexico for example, coincides with the first day of the Day of the Dead celebration which focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember lost friends and family members.
In Scandinavia and Eastern parts of Europe the tradition is to light candles and visit the graves of deceased relatives.
