WRD icon

Welcome back to our Sunday segment where we source and share some of our favourite texts perfect for weddings. This week we are focusing on hopeful wedding readings. We try and include a variety of ideas so that there is a reading suggestion for every kind of speech at every kind of wedding!

However, if you are looking for a reading suggestion for a specific event, please feel free to leave us a comment. We would love to help you source one.

The Reading

This week’s reading is an extract from The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien.

“The world is indeed full of peril, and in it there are many dark places; but still there is much that is fair, and though in all lands love is now mingled with grief, it grows perhaps the greater.”

Why We love It

This is one of our favourite hopeful wedding readings because it does not shy away from the dark aspects of life that may lead you to search for a hopeful message. This is a perfect reading for a wedding of a couple who have recently suffered a loss, or perhaps people affected by global events.

If you like this reading, keep your eyes peeled next Sunday and every Sunday from here on out. We will share more hopeful wedding readings, as well as texts about joy, children, religion, and more.
