Platinum is the most popular choice for engagement rings due to it's lovely white colour and hardness. Platinum doesn't need to be rhodium plated and is a metal that will last a life time; being the most prestigious and rarest precious metal, it is more expensive than white gold.
White gold is another popular choice for engagement rings and has a lovely silvery white colour. This is achieved by rhodium plating the metal as white gold naturally is a grey/yellow colour. White gold is a an ideal metal to provide an excellent backdrop for diamonds and is a slightly cheaper alternative to platinum.
Palladium is from the same metal family as platinum, so has the same white finish and doesn't require rhodium plating. Palladium isn't as hard as platinum but is a cheaper alternative for your engagement ring and still a great durable metal.
Yellow Gold is the traditional choice for engagement rings. The vast majority of our yellow gold engagement rings are 18ct gold, which is 75% gold; the rest is made up of copper, silver, cobalt or zinc.
