E’s Non-Traditional Engagement Ring
E knew she wanted to propose to her partner, and that the ring had to be as special as he was. Initially E ordered a plain 14ct gold band from us with the plan to have it hand engraved at a later date. However, once she discovered our bespoke engraving options she realised we could give her the ring she wanted at the best possible price.
The story of the ring began with an inspiration image of a hand-engraved Victorian band featuring intricate scrollwork and a blackened effect which brought out the details of the pattern. E had found that hand engraving the ring would cost around twice as much as the gold ring itself, which didn’t feel feasible. With this in mind, we introduced E to the idea of laser engraving and the many possibilities it creates.
As a graphic designer, E was an ideal customer. She was able to render her own pattern image for us to engrave. This is not strictly necessary as we can do this in house, but it meant that both the bespoke team and E were confident that the pattern would be exactly what she hoped for. We began by trialling the scroll design on a silver ring so that E could approve the final look.
E was thrilled with how the design looked, so we proceeded to engrave her real ring.
The proposal was a huge success, and we think the ring looks perfectly at home on E’s partner’s finger. E said:
“Hi WRD, The ring is so BEAUTIFUL! Thank you so much for all your hard work and help, and a huge thanks to Tom. I can't wait to give my partner the ring!”
