J's Whimsical Cat Ring

We were so excited when J approached us to create a whimsical engagement ring for their bride to be. The brief was to create a classic solitaire with a feline twist, based on a fashion ring that J used as a reference.

Before creating the design, we decided with J what size centre stone would work the best. This had to take into account both their budget and the proportions of the cat ears which would eventually adorn the collect of the stone. As J's partner has very petite fingers, we opted for a 0.25ct round brilliant diamond to give the design of the ring room to shine. J then decided that some extra sparkle was in order, so we added six smaller diamonds which were grain set into the shank. Grain setting enhances the sparkle of the little stones, making this band a real show stopper.

Once we had settled on the final design, we moved on to the build. You may be surprised to hear that this design did not require a CAD model. Instead, we built the engagement ring and then hand crafted the cat ears from platinum wire. This gave us more control to ensure that the ears had their own little character. We went back and forth with our jeweller, trying several different ear sizes before we found the one!

The final result is an absolutely gorgeous, unique piece of jewellery. We love how dainty and timeless the ring is, while still exuding personality. Remember, your wedding and engagement rings need to fit in with you, not the other way around.
