How To Find Your Wedding Ring Size

WRD icon

Finding your ring size can be tricky. This is due to a number of factors. Firstly, fingers swell and contract throughout the day and in different weather conditions. Even your diet can impact the size of your fingers from day to day. Secondly, rings are circular and therefore ring size increments exist on a curve, rather than increasing in regular increments. To make matters more complicated, there is no true standard in the UK for sizing a finger or reading a size from a wedding ring. In order to help our customers navigate this potentially difficult process, we have a number of services available to help you get around this issue.

If you have no idea where to begin, you can order a free ring sizer to get you started. It should be with you in just a few days and will give you a good idea of your finger size.

How to Use Your Free Ring Sizer:

  1. Feed the end of the tape through the slot to form a ring
  2. Place your finger into the ring sizer and pull the tape tight so that it fits comfortably on your finger
  3. Take the ring sizer off and put it on again. Make sure that it slides comfortably over your knuckle while still fitting snugly
  4. When you have found the perfect fit, read off your ring size!

Finding Your Ring Size With Samples

Once you have found your rough size with our free ring sizer, (skip this step if you already own rings and have an idea of size already), you can make use of our 'try before you buy' sample service . Designed to help determine your exact size in the style ring you would like to order, our sample service gives you the opportunity to order up to 10 ring replicas to try on at home.

Top Tips For Wedding Ring Samples:

  1. The width and profile of your chosen ring can have an affect on which size you need. For example, a wider ring will always feel more tight than a narrow ring due to the varying width of your finger. Similarly, a ring with a flat interior profile will feel more tight due to excess friction between your skin and the metal.
  2. We highly recommend that you order a good range of samples so that you can determine what feels comfortable for you.
  3. Try and wear them multiple times throughout the day and in different temperatures to make sure they fit well in different scenarios.
  4. Shaped wedding ring samples are available in stock sizes only, but the shaped portion remains the same no matter what ring size is selected. This means you can still lay it against your engagement ring to ensure the shaped portion fits around your centre stone correctly.

Our dedicated customer service team is always available during office hours to assist you. Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you need any guidance on finding the perfect size for your wedding ring!

WRD Sizing

Wedding Rings Direct use a leading edge (as opposed to centre point) measurement for the majority of our rings. If you think the distinction may affect your choice of which size to order, please contact us for advice.

If you've been given a size in numbers i.e. EU or US, have a look at the size chart below to convert it to a UK size letter.

Make Use of Our Resizing Service

Over the years you will be wearing your ring, there's a chance you might need it to be resized. Whether it's due to pregnancy, beefing up in the gym, or losing those few extra pounds; finger size can fluctuate just like rest of you. Our resize service is straightforward and inexpensive. We keep the price to you in line with the cost to us.

Precious metal rings can generally be resized up or down at least 5 sizes without compromising the integrity of the ring. Titanium, Zirconium, and Steel rings can be trickier. often we need to remake these rings in place of resizing them. We offer one full remake of these styles per customer at the price of a resize. Tungsten carbide rings cannot be resized, and must always be remade.
